CONDITION GUIDE
Everything sold here has been worn before. Instead of vague words like “great condition”, every piece gets one of four grades, plus written notes and photographs of any flaw. This page explains exactly what each grade means.
- EXCELLENT
- Worn a handful of times or not at all. No stains, holes or repairs. All hardware, badges and tags present and working.
- VERY GOOD
- Regularly worn but well kept. Minor signs of use that are not obvious when worn — slight softening of the fabric, faint marks in hidden areas. No damage.
- GOOD
- Honest wear consistent with age: fading, small marks, light pilling or a minor repair. Everything is documented in the photos and notes. Structurally sound.
- WELL WORN
- Significant character — heavy fading, distressing, repairs or a missing badge. Bought for the piece and the patina, not for a pristine garment. Always photographed in full.
HOW WE GRADE
Each garment is inspected in daylight against a checklist: fabric and lining, seams, zips and hardware, badges and labels, stains, holes, repairs and odour. The grade reflects the worst finding, not the average — a jacket that is otherwise perfect but has a repaired pocket is graded Good, not Excellent.
MEASUREMENTS OVER SIZE LABELS
Sizing changed a lot across these decades and archive pieces were often cut differently from current production. Trust the measurements on each product page, not the size on the label. All measurements are taken flat, in centimetres, with a 1–2 cm tolerance.
FLAWS ARE PHOTOGRAPHED
If a piece has a mark, a repair, a missing button or fading, it appears in the photographs and in the condition notes. Nothing is retouched out. If you receive something that does not match the listing, we take it back and refund you in full.
